Recording a phone interview is a valuable tool, because it allows you to go back and listen to your interview for things you might have missed. But what if you want to share your phone interview with others? Other hiring managers or colleagues for example. If you are planning on sharing the interview with a group of people, a Podcast might be the best option for you. Podcasts are also great for sharing your phone interviews with people in different cities. Podcasts are made for online sharing after all. Recording a phone interview for a Podcast is a bit different, but here are a few tips to make the process a litter easier for you and relieve the headache, that sometimes accompanies new technological territory.

1. Be Careful to Not Break Any Laws

This is not meant to scare you away from recording your phone interviews, just a reminder to make sure, that the candidates you’re interviewing, know that you’re recording your conversation. There might some other laws and/ or guidelines for recording a phone interview, depending on the state you are in. A simple Google search will allow you to locate the laws you need to follow.

2. Find a Service

There are online services that will help you record your phone interview and help you turn it into a Podcast. Recording an interview for Podcast can be tricking, if you do not know what you are doing. So, using a service might be the best option for you. An online service will make your life a little easier and will let you create a professional Podcast.

3. Decide what Platform you want to use for your Podcast

Are you wanting to use Skype, Skylook, Audacity or a Google format? Bet you did not know you had some many choices for a Podcast? These platforms work best with Outlook. If you are already formally with one of these platforms, then obviously, you should go with that one. If you’ve never used one of these platforms before, I would suggest Skype or Skylook for your Podcast.

4. Become familiar with your Equipment

What you do not want to do, is to try to record a Podcast without practicing with your tools and platform before you start your phone interview. You will end up confusing yourself during your interview and there is a good chance you won’t be able to record your interview. So, read your manuals, watch a Youtube video or two and run a few practice recordings. These steps, might be a little time consuming, but they will save you a lot of trouble and headache down the road.

Recording a phone interview for Podcast, might seem a little over whelming, but hopefully these will make the process a little easier for you. And when in doubt, there are services and people online who can help you. Take a deep breath, you can do this.
